Christian Kaspers, Alexandr Polujan and Alexander Pott give talks at KOLKOM 2019
Three members of the Discrete Math Group, Christian Kaspers, Alexandr Polujan and Alexander Pott, gave talks at the 38th Colloquium on Combinatorics (KOLKOM) which took place on November 8-9 in Paderborn, Germany.
On Friday evening, as an invited speaker, Alexander Pott presented an extended overview about Almost perfect nonlinear functions. On Saturday, Alexandr Polujan spoke about Design-theoretic aspects of vectorial bent functions and Christian Kaspers presented his results on A lower bound on the number of CCZ-inequivalent APN functions (joint work with Yue Zhou).
The full program of the conference can be found here.
Shuxing Li leaves Magdeburg
After two years in Magdeburg, Shuxing Li has left the Discrete Mathematics group of the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg on September 30, 2019. Shuxing Li started his research stay in Magdeburg on October 1,2017, as a Humboldt postdoctoral fellow funded by the Alexander von Humboldt foundation. He was hosted by Alexander Pott, and, during his stay, they worked on several joint papers. Shuxing Li will continue his scientific career in Vancouver, Canada, where he accepted a postdoctoral fellowship offer by the Pacific Institue of Mathematical Science, which will start on November 1, 2019. His host will be Jonathan Jedwab at Simon Fraser University.
Christian Kaspers on research stay in Changsha
At the invitation of Dr. Yue Zhou, Christian Kaspers travelled to Changsha, China, from August 31 to September 17, 2019, to work together on a project about APN functions. During his research stay, Christian Kaspers gave a talk at the mathematical seminar of the National University of Defense Technology about Solving isomorphism problems about 2-designs from difference families in finite fields and Galois rings.
On the weekend, Christian and Yue traveled to Fanjungshang national park, where, after climbing 8000 steps, they were rewarded with a spectacular view.
Alexander Pott gives talk in Budapest
From July, 7 to 13, Alexander Pott visits the LOOPS 2019 conference in Budapest, Hungary. He will give a talk about Partial almost perfect nonlinear permutations. Moreover, he is a member of the scientific committee of the conference.
Alexander Pott gives talk in Bled
On Monday, June 24, 2019, Alexander Pott gave a talk about Homogeneous Cubic Bent Functions (joint work with Alexandr Polujan) at the special session Designs of the 9th Slovenian International Conference on Graph Theory in Bled, Slovenia.
Other special sessions of the conference cover several graph theoretical topics but also finite geometry and association schemes. Here is a link to the book of abstracts.
